March 1, 2021 – At least three Filipino Canadian businesses have been nominated for this year’s Small Business BC Awards (SBBC) in several categories. Cast your votes for these businesses on the SBBC website https://smallbusinessbc.ca/awards/

Audielicious Restaurant in Fort St. John has been nominated for best community impact, best immigrant entrepreneur and premier’s people’s choice. Chef Audie Banania is a local hero in the small northeastern British Columbia community. Since opening the restaurant in 2019, Banania has been active in community donating to charitable causes, ratcheting up efforts when the pandemic hit in 2020. Towards the close of 2020, Audielicious Restaurant was awarded the Community Award from the Fort St. John Community Living, followed by the Best Dinner and Best Service by the Alaska Highway News.

Nominated for best immigrant entrepreneur and best solopreneur, Career Coach Amelia is a career services provider specializing in helping new immigrants find their footing in the British Columbia workplace. Business owner Amelia Libonao, who has over 10 years of service in the field of human resources, also currently works at the City of Surrey.

EMohRuo Spa The Art of Filipino Wellness, a wellness spa located in Fort St. John, has been nominated for a total of five awards: best community impact, best immigrant entrepreneur, best innovation, best solopreneur and premier’s people’s choice.Owner and massage therapist Louella Picar was a physiotherapist when she left the Philippines. She is a single mom with a seven-year old daughter.

Nominations and voting for this annual award continue until March 8 with the top five of each category to be announced on March 22. The SBBC awards ceremony to be held virtually from May 4 to 6.
