A Filipino Christmas-themed night market is coming to Toronto.

The Pinoy Christmas Night Market starts on November 25 at 500 Progress Avenue in Scarborough.

The 10-day event is organized by NYT Mrkt Series and Pinay Tayo Toronto.

Organizers explain on social media that the night market is inspired by the Filipino tradition of Simbang Gabi, a series of nine evening or early morning masses in anticipation of Christmas.

“Pinoy Christmas Night Market with the theme ‘Simbang Gabi’ will recreate the Filipino Christmas traditions of going outdoors and meeting family, friends and colleagues despite cold temperature to enjoy the breeze of Christmas Holiday Spirit,” organizers state.

“Though we are not able to bring masses outdoors as it is restricted to be inside the church buildings. We can enjoy our time sipping hot chocolate, feasting on favourite Filipino dishes, shop for gifts, be entertained with [C]hristmas caroling, sing karaoke or just hang around other Filipinos,” they say.

When: November 25–December 4, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Where: 500 Progress Avenue, Scarborough
