April 1, 2024 — Over 40 restaurants in eight provinces and 18 cities across Canada are participating in the third year of the Filipino Restaurant Month in Canada (FRMC). This year’s month-long event comes with at least 250 national and local prizes up for grabs.

For the month of April, diners get to experience Filipino cuisine through prix fixe menus celebrating the diverse array of dishes by Filipino chefs across Canada and get a chance to win local and national prizes.

Philippine Consulates General in both Vancouver and Calgary launched the event in March with Philippine Ambassador to Canada Maria Andrelita Austria sending her message via video conference: “I encourage all of you to visit the FRMC participating restaurants this April 2024 and be ready to fall in love with our food, our people and our country.”

“The 3rd FRMC will build on the positive outcome of the first two years of the FRMC in 2022 and 2023, which generated a total of 120 million total media impressions and CAD7.0 million in total media ad value for the FRMC,” Calgary’s Consul General Patron said. “These numbers translated into increased public awareness for the Filipino cuisine and free publicity for the FRMC participating restaurants across Canada, which we hope to sustain in Year 3 of the FRMC.”

Tourism Attaché Soleil Tropicales expressed support of the Philippine Department of Tourism to the FRMC 2024 that will highlight the new tourism campaign, Love the Philippines. The FRMC is a partnership between the Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT), the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and the Philippine Consulates General in Calgary, Ottawa and Vancouver

Prizes include four domestic roundtrip tickets within the Philippines courtesy of Philippine Airlines and two land travel packages from Rajah Tours Philippines.

Nine hotels in the Philippines are giving away gift certificates for accommodations while three travel agencies in Alberta are giving away travel vouchers worth $500 each. Other Alberta-based businesses providing prizes are Seafood City in Calgary, Smiles Mobile Remittance of Red Deer and LBC Calgary which will give away 20 gift certificates for the shipment of balikbayan boxes and parcels for winners in Alberta.

The 41 participating restaurants will also raffle off a total of 190 dining vouchers as local prizes.
