Filipinos overseas are encouraged to register for the Philippines’ forthcoming national elections to be held on May 9, 2022.
Registrations began in December and ends on September 30, 2021. Applications may be made at the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa, the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto, and the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver.
Qualified voters are Filipino citizens who will be at least 18 years of age on or before election day. Applicants must appear in person at the embassy, consulates general or at any of their outreach missions during the registration period.
Applicants are required to submit their application form with their original and photocopy of proof of
Philippine citizenship, either a valid Philippine passport or dual citizenship identification certificate.
Applications for registration, transfer of registration records, change or correction of entries in the registration record, reactivation of registration record, and reinstatement of name in the list of voters will also be accepted during the period.
The 2022 elections will field candidates for president, vice president, senators, and party-list representatives.
The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa serves constituents from Ottawa and parts of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island and Nunavut. The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto serves those from Ontario and Manitoba, while the consulate in Vancouver serves those from British Columbia, the Yukon and the Northwest Territories.
