The pandemic isn’t stopping Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver in bringing Maligayang Pasko, Vancouver 2020! featuring three of last year’s popular segments – the carols, the parols, and the market beginning December 4.
Five sets of virtual performances will start on December 4 with musical renditions by Jono Hilario and Jonathan Tamondong of Surrey. Coquitlam’s Kylie Lorenzana-Fonacier will be featured on the second Friday, December 11, while husband-and-wife University of Santo Tomas (UST) choir members Jayron and Vanessa Rezaba will entertain on December 18.
On Christmas Day, December 25, the Cebu Youth Orchestra, under the guidance of Kimwell del Rosario of Rosario Strings, will entertain with Christmas songs. On New Year’s Day, Tawag ng Tanghalan finalist, Gigi Dela Llana, accompanied by pianist Jon Cruz and the band, Soul Bend will welcome 2021. The performances will stream on the Consulate’s official Facebook page, Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver (@PHinVancouver).
Christmas parol-making activity, dubbed Mga Bituin ng Pasko, will guide online participants in creating their own Christmas Philippine-style lanterns. Vancouver-based visual artists Bert Monterona and Mylene Paredes will be guiding participants in an instructional video on parol-making which will be published on the Consulate’s Facebook page.

Maligayang Pasko Virtual Christmas Booth isa one-stop shop for Filipino Christmascravings and gifting needs and supports 21 participating Canadian Filipinobusinesses based in Vancouver. Product offerings maybe viewed at www.maligayangpasko.ca beginning December 4. Order dates are from December 12 to 15, after which orders will be available for pick up or delivery on December 19 and 20.
Participating vendors include Bukobaba, Ensaimada Moment, Goldilocks, Hapag Ihaw-Ihaw Filipino Grill, Kapé, Kasama Chocolate, Kaye Bakes, Kiligraphy, Kusina Food Market, LaGlace, Loobi Canada Inc, MapleSun, Pampanga’s Cuisine, Plato Filipino, Techie’s HeavenlyTreats, the Khaykery, Unit 215, and Win Win Chick-N. All participating businesses offer a variety of products, from crafts to ice cream, chocolates, pastries and cakes to fried chicken and other Filipino meal favorites, condiments and beverages. Also feature are non-food business partners, LBC Express, Philippine Airlines and Tourmasters Travel.
