July 1, 2026 ̶ Emmy Buccat is the new president of Maple Bamboo Network Society (MBNS), the nonprofit that owns and operates the online-only CanadianFilipino.Net publication.
A donor-relations professional with the University of British Columbia’s Development and Alumni Engagement Office, Buccat has a wide array of experience in journalism, communications, and events management.
Emmy Buccat will lead a board that includes Dr. Rey Pagtakhan, the first Filipino to be elected Member of Parliament in Canada.
With Buccat at the MBNS board are Rey Pagtakhan, Carlito Pablo, and Laura Ocampo.
CanadianFilipino.Net’s staff are Rachel Ramos-Reid, managing editor; Arlene Wright, webmaster; and Cindy Custodio, social media manager.
Buccat is replacing Eleanor Laquian, who retired from MBNS and CanadianFilipino.Net effective June 30, 2026.
MBNS was founded in 2016 and is marking its one decade of publishing this year.
