The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and consulates general in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto join Filipinos in Canada in celebrating Filipino Heritage Month in June.

The month-long celebration dubbed “Proudly Philippines, Proudly Filipino!” will feature outstanding Canadian Filipinos who excel in politics, media, the arts and business, collectively and individually contributing to Canada’s socio-cultural fabric.

Every day from June 12 to July 11, a video featuring one Canadian Filipino will be posted on the respective websites and social media accounts of the Philippine embassy and consulates general across the country.  The three to five-minute video clips will tell the story of who they are, what they do and what their thoughts are on being a Filipino in Canada.

Announcements in the run up to the launch of “Proudly Philippines, Proudly Filipino! will also be posted on social media accounts.

In a media release, Vancouver’s Consul General Maria Andrelita Austria notes, “Through “Proudly Philippines, Proudly Filipino!”, we would like to recognize these Filipino-Canadians who make us proud by serving as living examples of the best of the Philippines abroad. It is our hope that this project will not only create greater awareness about the Philippines among Canadians and second-generation Filipinos but also inspire others during these uncertain times.”
