April 16, 2025 — To help guide voters in the April 28, 2025 federal election, Canadian Filipino Net is reproducing tips by Elections Canada.

To vote, you must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old on election day, and prove your identity and address. Remember to bring a valid ID showing a photo, name and address and/or supporting documents with you whichever way you wish to vote. A current driver’s licence works best.

Plan early. Make a plan and choose the voting option that works best for you. You can vote almost any time.

Vote on election day

Vote at your assigned polling station on election day, Monday, April 28. Polls will be open for 12 hours (hours vary by time zone).

To find your polling station, check your voter information card or use Elections Canada’s Voter Information Service.

Vote on advance polling days

Vote at your assigned polling station from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the Easter weekend:

Friday, April 18
Saturday, April 19
Sunday, April 20, or
Monday, April 21

To find your advance polling station, check your voter information card or use Elections Canada’s Voter Information Service.

Vote early at any Elections Canada office

There are around 500 Elections Canada offices open across the country. Vote at any one of them by April 22, 6 p.m.

You will vote using the special ballot process which will be slightly different from voting in the advance polling and election days.

Elections Canada’s offices are open seven days a week:

Monday to Friday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday: noon to 4 p.m.

You can find online the Elections Canada office nearest you.

Some notes to remember

The electoral district boundaries were updated in 2023 as a result of the 2021 Census so your riding may have changed since then. Also as a result of the 2023 update, four more seats were added to the electoral map: one for Ontario, one for British Columbia, and three for Alberta. Quebec lost one seat.
