World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros announced on March 12 this somber global moment: COVID-19 is a PANDEMIC! It is both a public health and a socio-economic global crisis. Affecting over 100-thousand patients and causing over 4-thousand deaths in 100 days, its geographic spread has reached all regions of the U.N. health agency, six continents and 114 countries. Indeed, COVID-19 is very contagious and rapidly transmissible from patient-to-patient, and has exacted a heavy toll on human lives.
As of March 8, Toronto Public Health (TPH) was monitoring 13 positive cases of the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 in the metropolitan area.
According to TPH, it is actively working with municipal and health partners to plan for the potential of the local spread of the virus.
Dr. James Robb was a professor of pathology at the University of California San Diego. He was one of the first molecular virologists in the world to work on coronaviruses (in the 1970s). He was the first to demonstrate the number of genes the virus contained. Since then, he has kept up with the coronavirus field and its multiple clinical transfers into the human population (e.g., SARS, MERS), from different animal sources.

Some Catholic churches in the Philippines have found a new source of income to supplement the weekly offerings of their parishioners. They have established a columbarium. A columbarium or columbary as it is locally called is “a structure of vaults lined with recesses for cinerary urns” (those holding a deceased's cremated remains). Each niche can hold a number of cremation urns (up to 4). The niche faceplate, in granite, glass or brass, usually has an inscription engraved upon it with name, date of birth and date of death of the deceased.
